FOR ALL DIGITAL PRINTING APPLICATIONS
File Format: We can accept files in PC and Mac format and support the following software: Illustrator CS3, Photoshop CS3, QuarkXpress 6, Adobe Acrobat 6, Adobe InDesign CS3, Freehand 10, PowerPoint 2000. PDF files are very convenient but cannot be manipulated in any way other than size. Be sure to design a 1/8" bleed into all images extending outside crop marks.
Color Matching: It is not possible to achieve exact color matching when producing digital prints. If color matching is critical for your project, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to provide some form of color sample for us to attempt to match as closely as possible. The output of certain colors can vary dramatically from software to software and may produce undesirable affects. Our printer utilizes PMS look-up tables for the closest possible match to true PMS colors. WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you purchase a color proof from us BEFORE proceeding with your entire order to assure we are achieving the closest possible match for your project. WE WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE for undesirable prints if you chose not to approve a color proof. Any color manipulation of your files will be billable time at our current hourly rate.
Fonts and Supporting Files: It is strongly recommended that you convert all fonts to outlines before sending us your file. Mac users should send both printer and screen fonts. You must also be certain to send all supporting images, documents, etc. WE WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE for undesirable prints from incorrectly prepared files.
Scanning: Scanned images should be at 100-150 dpi at a one to one scale. Maximum file size at final output size should not exceed 150MB. Scanned files should be saved as TIFF, JPEG or PSD for the most reliable output of your image.

Art Laminating & Finishing’s Special Projects department offers hot and cold laminating applications to accommodate a wide range of materials, including heat-sensitive products. Films are available in matte, lustre and gloss finishes suitable for any lighting situation. All finishes are available in multiple film weights.
|
|
HOT FILMS
Hot film is durable, rollable, relatively inexpensive, and therefore the type of film most commonly used. However, because the adhesive is heat activated at about 220°, hot film has certain limitations. It is not compatible with plastic coated or heat-sensitive papers such as inkjet prints on polygloss paper. Please consult with us regarding the requirements for materials of this type.
Hot films work well on most fiber papers, including photographs, laser copies, and materials that have printed on an offset press. Hot film is safe for inkjet posters that have been printed on photobase or similar bond type paper as long as the film is applied to both sides and the edges are sealed. The main advantage of using hot films vs. other films is that they generally cost less. Let our estimator know what type of paper and ink coverage your material has so that we can give you the most accurate estimate. Consult the chart below for our available hot films and finishes.

LO MELT FILMS
Lo Melt films are designed specifically for inkjet print applications. Because the film is run at only 185°, it will not cause gas bubbles and will bond to most inks and toners that standard Hot Films at 220° will not. Lo Melt film also contains a U.V. light chemical barrier to help reduce fading and some are available with dry-erase surfaces. These films offer a cost effective solution to problems that once could only be solved with a cold film process.
Consult the chart below for our available Lo Melt Films and finishes.

COLD FILMS
Cold Film is applied without the use of heat. It employs a pressure sensitive adhesive that will bond to almost any type of paper or vinyl, regardless of ink coverage. Cold Film is recommended for inkjet prints with full ink bleed and for long lasting outdoor signs. This product solves most of the problems caused by the high temperature Hot Films but at a price usually 30% higher.

SPOILED MATERIALS POLICY STATEMENT
We at Art Laminating & Finishing look forward to working with you on your graphics finishing projects.
Every effort will be made to produce high quality finished materials with a minimum of spoilage and/or distortion.
However since mounting and laminating are irreversible and imperfect procedures, a small margin for failure must be factored into the process.
Art Laminating & Finishing, LLC. will not bear liability for the value or replacement cost of materials submitted for finishing. A sufficient number of extras should be submitted to achieve the desired quality.
WE DO NOT RECOMMEND MOUNTING OR LAMINATING IRREPLACEABLE OR ONE OF A KIND MATERIALS.

|
|
|
We can mount almost any media using a wide variety of substrates. Prints are mounted to form either rigid panels or flexible, yet durable graphics. You can mount prints for framing, or create frame-less posters with film lamination in place of glass. We can mount using a hot or cold process depending on your material. Listed below are descriptions of the various materials available for mounting.
|
| FOME-CORE® |
|
As its name suggests, foam-core is a lightweight, rigid board with a foam center and a paper casing on both sides. This is one of the least expensive mounting boards we offer and is best used on smaller applications. It is not as durable as some of the more expensive substrates and may have a tendency to warp on larger panels. FOME-COR® is available in sizes up to 48" x 96", with thicknesses of 3/16" or 1/2" , in white or black. |
| JET MOUNT® |
| Another foam-core board, JetMount® is thicker and more durable than standard Fome-cor® yet relatively inexpensive. The core is an enhanced polystyrene foam offering better warp and dent resistance than regular foam-core. JetMount® is available in sizes up to 60" x 96" making it useful for larger applications. It is available as a 1/4" thick white board only. |
| GATORFOAM® |
| Gatorfoam® is the most rigid and durable of all the lightweight foam center boards. It has a hard shell casing in place of the paper casing as on standard foam-core. Though it is slightly more expensive than Fome-cor® or JetMount®, it is an excellent choice for larger applications, long term use or when durability is a key issue. Gatorfoam®is available in sizes up to 48" x 96", 3/16" and 1/2" thicknesses, white or black.
|
| SINTRA® |
| A plastic (expandable PVC) panel, Sintra® is very durable but still retains some flexibility. It is strong and weatherproof making it ideal for outdoor applications, especially when mounted to adhesive-backed vinyl. Sintra® is available in sizes up to 60" x 120", 1/8" and 1/4" thicknesses. We stock black and white but many other colors are available as a special order.
|
| STYRENE |
| (Polystyrene) is another solid, plastic board but is thinner and more flexible than Sintra®. It works well for curved displays and is acceptable for outdoor use. Styrene is available in .020", .040" and .060" thicknesses, in sizes up to 48" x 96", white or black.
|
| POLYCARBONATE |
| Also known as Lexan® this 15 mil sheet of clear plastic is very durable yet can still be easily rolled. Polycarbonate has a satin finish, making it a most attractive overlaminate but still works well as a backing substrate. This product is the #1 choice for durable, rollable trade show booth graphics. It is available up to 48" wide and can be run out in 10' lengths.
|
| COROPLAST™ |
| This is a 4mm thick corrugated plastic panel which is safe for outdoor use. It's very light, but not rigid or tough. Coroplast™ is available in sizes up to 48" x 96" in white only.
|
| PLEXIGLAS® |
| An optically clear acrylic panel most commonly used for face mounting backlit prints for use in lightboxes, this product has a myriad of alternative uses including picture framing and as a clean, contemporary way of displaying family photo’s. Plexiglas® is available in sizes up to 48" x 96" of various thicknesses.
|
| ILLUSTRATION BOARD |
| A wide variety of paperboards are stocked suitable for indoor signs, counter cards and portfolio usage. Chipboard is an inexpensive, lightweight cardboard that works well for P.O.P. displays and small signs and is available in several thicknesses. Black matboard and black chromecoat are the most popular portfolio backing boards we offer. Many other alternative substrates can be made to order.
